Welcome to the 25 Years Later:
Stories of Solidarity and Survival Hub

In August 2025, groups serving BAMEMSA (Black, Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, Sikh, and South Asian) communities in the U.S. came together to consider the significance of the 25th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S. and the accompanying Global War on Terror.
Over the last 25 years, the Global War on Terror has spun a legacy of violence, surveillance, and suspicion that has brought deep harm to our communities. Between August 2025 and September 2026, this working group reflected on our individual and organizational perspectives of the Global War on Terror, what measures are needed to repair the devastating harms that our communities endured, and how we remember and reckon with what happened before 9/11 to Black and brown communities, what happened after 9/11 to BAMEMSA and SWANA communities, and what is happening now to all marginalized and immigrant communities in the U.S.
On this 25th anniversary of the War on Terror, we come together to share our stories of both survival and solidarity, how we fought through the hate to find a place of collective strength, how we persevered from survival to thriving, how we were not the first communities to experience state violence and surveillance nor are we the last, and how do we shape a world free of state repression.
Visit our subpages to learn more about our solidarity and commitments to one another, our policy solutions, our first-hand accounts of how we experienced 9/11 and what came after, ways to activate around the 25th anniversary of the Global War on Terror in your own community, and other resources, events, and opportunities to deepen your understanding.
